So you want to join our board!
Our organization is a non-profit 501(c)(4) organization led by a Board of Directors and facilitated by our Executive Director.
Board members are the trustees who steer our organization towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as by making sure the nonprofit has adequate resources to advance its mission.
One of the most important responsibilities of this board is to provide guidance to the executive director in respect to running the day-to-day management activities of the organization. As a board where paid staff is in place, rather than steer the boat by managing day-to-day operations, board members provide foresight, oversight, and insight. The organization also asks that you provide community awareness, education, and support for the mission of the festival.
Please keep in mind that the time commitment for The Dogwood Festival is as follows:
Monthly board meetings (2nd Tuesday of the month @ 6:00 p.m. in Downtown Fayetteville)
Monthly committee meetings after work hours (depends on the committee, can be up to an hour)
Attendance at all days of Spring Festival. Hours for these days vary. Total hours can be in excess of 30 hours.
